Since winning it all in 2020 and winning the World Series MVP, Corey Seager has carried his incredible talents into Spring Training.
Now, it’s easy to say “it’s just Spring Training” but what Corey Seager is able to do during this stretch of Spring Training is really remarkable. To say that he’s in mid-season form might be an understatement as he’s slashing .478/.571/1.130 with 5 home runs and 11 runs batted in within just 11 games. Typically, we might be used to seeing hitters get out of the gate slow as they are trying to get back into the swing of things and make adjustments, but Seager’s hot bat hasn’t cooled off since winning the World Series in 2020.
On Sunday, Seager hit a solo home run to deep left-center off of Kansas City Royals pitcher Brady Singer which cut their deficit to 5-1. On Monday,He followed that up with a two-run home run to left field off of Colorado Rockies pitcher Brian Gonzalez to make it back to back days with hitting home runs. His ability to wait and get the perfect pitch to hit and being able to have such quick hands at the plate to turn on the baseball is something truly special. His own manager, Dave Roberts, gave him praise for the hot start he’s been on this spring.
#Dodgers Dave Roberts said he might consider putting Corey Seager in bubble wrap until Opening Day. "He's just picked up right where he left off last year."

There’s no doubt that Seager has been locked in during this Spring Training and there shouldn’t be any reason why he wouldn’t carry it into the regular season. Seager is in his contract year this year, which means that he’ll be a free agent this up and coming off-season, and while he hasn’t given much on his off-season plans, Dodgers fans would gladly welcome him back with open arms. He’s a Scott Boras client, and Boras usually prefers his clients to test the free agent market and max out their value, but the relationship between Seager and the Dodgers seems strong and he’s meant a lot to the organization since he got to the Dodgers.
Only time will tell if Corey Seager remains a Dodger, but fans should appreciate him this season either way. What he’s been continuously been doing for the organization on the field should be etched in Dodgers history and we may be in store for another historic season for the young shortstop.
