Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts updates fans on Teoscar Hernandez’s free agency during his signing in Monterey Park Sunday. Could Hernandez be back in Dodger Blue soon?
Start the Rally: Tweet This Now!The Dave Roberts world tour made a stop in Monterey Park Sunday at Bobblemania Collectibles for a public signing, nearly two months after the Dodgers wrapped up their 8th World Series Championship in franchise history.
The Bleed Los podcast was on site at Bobblemania Collectibles to catch up with Roberts.
Roberts touched upon a couple of topics, including a quick update on Teoscar Hernandez’s free agency. He previously slipped that the Dodgers were talking with Shohei Ohtani’s camp a year ago, even when he wasn’t supposed to. The Dodgers manager would have the insight on a key signing, right?
Roberts on if he gets tired of being called a World Champion:
“I don’t. I can get used to that. It’s been such a whirlwind, so much fun, and I’m here doing a signing right now, getting a chance to be with the Dodger fans, and there’s been a world tour. My voice shows it. I feel great, but just going all over the world and spreading Dodger love, getting Dodger love everywhere, there’s nothing like it. It just capped off with that parade that was just electric and probably the best day of my life.”
Roberts on the Dodgers buying in to his system:
“There was a buy in. With our players and I think and I know our Dodger faithful and fans appreciated the way that our players played the way I played as a player. I managed them the way that they needed to be managed. They bought in. There was trust both ways. It wasn’t easy as you said. Ultimately, we got to have that parade that we talked about, and it ended with me being on stage with Ice Cube. I shot my shot – he was my guy when I was younger, so it was a memory for a lifetime.”
Roberts on what young Dave Roberts playing Ice Cube was like:
“So I did have the subwoofers. I had the box made, my two 10s in the trunk. I was rocking a Nissan Sentra and playing it as loud as I could. That was me, that was my vibe.”
Roberts on what Dodger fans can look forward to in the offseason going into 2025:
“We are going to run it back. LA is a city of champions, and that’s something that I certainly appreciate. We want rings. Mookie (Betts) said it. Shohei (Ohtani) said it. They want to accumulate rings and build onto their legacy. So, yes, that’s what we want to do – we’re going to run it back. Teoscar (Hernandez), I love Teo, and so I think we’re close (to bringing him back). I pray. Everyone say your prayers that we get Teo done so he can come back in Dodger Blue as well.”
So don’t forget to say your prayers tonight, Dodgers fans. It could help bring Hernandez back to the Dodgers.
Your Turn: When do you think the Dodgers fully bought in to Dave Roberts’ plan? Tell us below in the comments!
The Dodgers should bring back number 37, Hernandez since he wS really good and so wad Kimi bring him back too plus WLker as well.
1000% agree!!! BUT…IF Teohas other ideas or just wants too much…They should move mountains to rescue and revive Cody B.
i would expect he would thrive in a platoon …him and Pages could be dynamic!
