Dodgers manager Dave Roberts addressed the media today and mentioned some details of the goings-on with the Dodgers this off-season. Here’s a breakdown:
- Roberts said Dodgers have been more aggressive in the FA market because of the quality of players available now.
- Roberts has been involved in the process of recruiting top FA’s.
- Roberts would not comment much on the cheating allegations against the Astros other than being surprised by the news. But added, if the allegations are true, they crossed the line and have what punishment MLB dishes out “coming to them”.
- Roberts re-inserted his faith in Kenley Jansen as the Dodgers closer. Mentioned he hit the weight room and was working hard as soon as the postseason was over.
- Roberts mentioned Mark Walter is involved in the free agency discussions.
- Gavin Lux is in the mix for the Dodgers in 2020 and may have an opportunity to play the outfield “short term”, Roberts said.
- Roberts believes there will be a roster shakeup this offseason more than any while he’s been the Dodgers manager.
- Roberts is not concerned about the public opinion of his job security.
