POST-GAME BRIEFING

After a strong offensive performance in Game One of this series against the Giants, the Dodgers end up losing Game Two by the final score of 5-4. Johnny Cueto held the Dodgers hitless through five innings until Kiké Hernandez skied one to left. Giants’ left fielder Hunter Pence couldn’t find the ball and it dropped well behind him allowing Hernandez to get to third with a gift triple. This ended up giving the Dodgers a fighting chance as third basemen Justin Turner hit a 3-run bomb to pull them to within one. Unfortunately, the Dodgers weren’t able to rally a comeback after failing to score over the final three innings.

Clayton Kershaw seemed to have location mistakes tonight after he gave up four earned runs through 4.1 innings of work. Two of those runs were solo shots by Giants’ outfielder Austin Slater. Reliever Brusdar Graterol would end up giving up one more run to push the Giants lead to 5-0. The trio of Dylan Floro, Pedro Baez and Joe Kelly were able to hold the Giants scoreless the rest of the way.

DLD PLAY OF THE GAME

The DLD Play of the Game goes to Kiké Hernandez who hit a pop fly into the outfield that got lost in the lights by outfielder Hunter Pence. Hernandez stretched it into a triple that helped the Dodgers break up a potential no-hitter being thrown by Giants starter Johnny Cueto. This also led to a 3-run home run by Justin Turner which gave the Dodgers life after being down 5-0 into the sixth inning.

DLD PLAYER OF THE GAME

The DLD Player of the Game goes to Justin Turner who hit a 3-run home run that put the Dodgers right back into the game after being down by four. While the Dodgers weren’t be able to muster one more run that could’ve tied the game, this moment gave the Dodgers a definite boost of confidence. This was Turner’s first home run of the season.
