DLD Recap: Dodgers Defeat Rockies 6-1, Extend Win Streak to Five Games
September 19, 2020Dodgers Have Found Their Game 3 Starter With Tony Gonsolin
September 21, 2020POST-GAME BRIEFING
The Dodgers opened the final road game of the 2020 regular season looking to sweep the Colorado Rockies and potentially clinch their 8th straight division title. The Rockies pitching staff, led by starter Antonio Senzatela, had other ideas; they shut down the Dodgers offense and paved the way to a 6-3 over the Boys in Blue. The Dodgers’ final 2020 record in division play is 27-13. Their magic number remains at 2.
The Dodgers offense was ice cold for most of the game, earning only one run (on an Edwin Rios single) through the first eight innings. The offense did show life in the 9th, scoring two runs, but the rally came up short. Starter Tony Gonsolin, however, came out blazing. He retired the first nine Rockies he faced, striking out the first six batters. The Rockies finally got to Gonsolin in the 4th by playing small ball, scoring 2 runs. Gonsolin went five innings, giving up two runs on three hits while striking out 10. Unfortunately, the Rockies roughed up the bullpen for four more runs.
