POST-GAME BRIEFING
The Dodgers opened up tonight’s game looking to win the rubber match of a 3-game series vs. the San Diego Padres before moving on to their weekend series against the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers’ offense came alive scoring seven runs early and never looked back. However, the Padres chipped away and trailed by one in the ninth inning, but the Dodgers held on to win the game by a score of 7-6. With this win, the Dodgers improved their 2020 season record to 9-4 and get their 3rd consecutive series win. Â
The offense tonight was led by Joc Pederson who was a one-man gang going 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. His homer in the 2nd inning was a 2-run shot scoring Chris Taylor. Pederson’s second long ball came in the a 6th inning – this time a three-run bomb scoring Corey Seager and Chris Taylor. Will Smith also contributed to the offense by singling home Pederson in the 5th inning followed by an Enrique Hernandez double, plating Smith. In total, the Dodgers managed to get 7 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in tonight’s win.
Ross Stripling came into tonight game looking to win his 3rd game of the season. Although he didn’t have his bess outing, he was effective going 5.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 7 and walking 2. That was good enough to secure another win for Stripling. The bullpen finished up the night going 3.1 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 5 and walking 3. Closer Kenley Jansen, however, owes a debt to gratitude to Chris Taylor who’s accurate throw got the final out of the game, preserving the Dodgers victory. Â
