POST-GAME BRIEFING
The Dodgers still haven’t lost a season series in 2020. Today, they went into the rubber match of the series against the Texas Rangers having won three of their last five games, and eight of their last eight series. The offense was impressive, the bullpen was lights out, and the Dodgers beat the Rangers, 7-2. With the win, the Dodgers improved their record to an MLB-best 26-10. The Dodgers also set the National League record for home runs in a month with 57, displacing the Atlanta Braves, who set the record of 56 last season.
The Dodgers offense drew first blood when Corey Seager hit a solo home run in the 1st inning. A second solo shot by Will Smith in the second inning made it 2-0 Dodgers. Cody Bellinger padded the lead in the 3rd with another home run, a two-run shot that put the Dodgers up 4-0. The last three runs were scored playing small ball on an RBI single and a sacrifice fly from Mookie Betts, and a single from Seager. Â
Tony Gonsolin, called up from the taxi squad today, opened today’s game looking for his 1st win of the season. Unfortunately, after racking up a high pitch count in the third inning, Roberts brought the hook and sent in the bullpen. Gonsolin finished the afternoon going just three innings, giving up one run on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts. The bullpen, which continues to dominate, shut down the Rangers offense, throwing six innings of one-run ball.Â
