Post-Game Briefing

After winning seven of their last eight games, including a series sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks to begin this homestand, the Dodgers entered a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies this weekend looking to continue their hot streak. In Friday’s series opener, the L.A. offense combined for 15 hits, five of which left the yard. Each player in the Dodgers’ lineup recorded at least one hit, while Mookie Betts, Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, A.J. Pollock, and Will Smith had multi-hit nights.

Dustin May was tasked with the starting duties for the Dodgers on Friday, facing the Rockies’ Anthony Senzatela. May worked his way through five and two-thirds innings against the Rockies’ eleventh-ranked offense by runs scored, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk. May left the game while the Dodgers trailed 2-1, so he ended up with a no-decision in the team’s 10-6 victory.

Play of the Game

Following Kevin Pillar’s eighth-inning grand slam, the Dodgers’ offense needed a response in order to come away with the victory. A.J. Pollock stepped up in the bottom half of the eighth inning with a two-run home run, driving in Cody Bellinger, and earning tonight’s Dodgers-LowDown Play of the Game.

Player of the Game

Mookie Betts played the lead-off position to perfection on Friday, hitting a pair of singles and driving in the final runs of the game with a two-run shot hit off Jeff Hoffman with two outs in the eighth inning. For his consistently great approach at the plate, Betts earns tonight’s Dodgers-LowDown Player of the Game.

Up Next

The Dodgers will continue this three-game series with the Rockies on Saturday when Tony Gonsolin will go head-to-head with Colorado’s ace, German Marquez. The game’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:10 PM PDT.
