Post-Game Briefing

Coming off a 9-2 win against the Diamondbacks, the Dodgers notably powerful offense made yet another statement, racking up a dozen runs on fifteen hits and four walks Monday night against Arizona. While the story of Sunday’s win was the power of the top of the Dodgers’ order, the script flipped in favor of the bottom half in this one, as the six, seven, and eight-hole hitters combined for nine RBI on the night.

Julio Urias took the mound as the Dodgers’ starting pitcher versus the D-Backs on Monday, surrendering just a solo home run over five innings of work. Urias earned the win for his efforts, as the Dodgers took the lead in the second inning and never faltered. A.J. Ramos, Dylan Floro, Blake Treinen, and Brusdar Graterol followed Urias in relief, each striking out one batter and shutting down Arizona’s offense for the remaining four innings.

Scoring Plays

  • TOP 2ND: Vargas solo home run (1-0 ARI)
  • BOT 2ND: Pederson two-run home run (2-1 LAD)
  • BOT 2ND: Betts three-run home run (5-1 LAD)
  • BOT 5TH: Pollock RBI single (6-1 LAD)
  • BOT 5TH: Pederson RBI double (8-1 LAD)
  • BOT 5TH: Taylor three-run home run (11-1 LAD)
  • BOT 7TH: Taylor RBI double (12-1 LAD)

DLD Play of the Game

In the bottom of the second inning, following a lead-off double by Corey Seager, Joc Pederson sent a 94.4 MPH fastball deep beyond the center-field wall, bringing the Dodgers back from a quick 1-0 deficit and creating a lead that the Dodgers would hold for the remainder of the game.

DLD Player of the Game

On Monday night, Joc Pederson proved to be a vital piece of the Dodgers’ winning recipe, even from the seventh spot in the lineup. Pederson’s night ended early after being subbed out in the bottom of the seventh. However, the night didn’t end before Pederson was capable of driving in four runs with a home run and a double to his credit. For his outstanding offensive performance against Arizona, Pederson earns Dodgers-LowDown’s Player of the Game honors.

Up Next

Continuing on with their exhibition games, the Dodgers will welcome the Los Angeles Angels into Dodger Stadium for a single game on Tuesday evening. The Dodgers are set to start Josiah Gray versus Felix Peña and the Angels with first-pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM PDT. The game will be their final exhibition match-up before opening the season on Thursday versus the San Francisco Giants.
