POST-GAME BRIEFING
Trying to recover from last night’s heart-breaking loss, the Dodgers came into the Sunday finale against the Astros facing former-Dodger Zack Greinke. Greinke didn’t have it tonight as the Dodgers put up five runs in his five innings of work on their way to an 8-1 victory. Overall, the Dodgers took three of four from the hated-Astros in two separate two-game sets this season.
The Blue Crew’s offense was a well-balanced attack which started off with AJ Pollock hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the first. The game stayed close until the fifth inning when Kiké Hernandez drove in Cody Bellinger and Chris Taylor on a two-RBI single. The next batter, Mookie Betts, hammered his 15th home run of the season, which effectively ended Greinke’s night. Chris Taylor put the game on ice in the eighth with a three-run blast; his fifth homer of the year.
Tonight was a bullpen-game for the Dodgers and the relievers did not disappoint. The team of Brusdar Graterol, Josh Sborz, Victor Gonzalez, Jake McGee, Dylan Floro, Alex Wood, Caleb Ferguson and Kenley Jansen combined to strike out 10 while surrendering just one run on four hits. The only blemish was a solo shot from Astros outfielder George Springer off Floro in the sixth.
