POST-GAME BRIEFING

After a strong performance from Tony Gonsolin, who ended up going 6 innings, only giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 8 strikeouts, the Dodgers bullpen couldn’t manage to keep the game close for the offense. The game was tied going into the top of the 9th innings until things got horrible for Blake Treinen, who cost the game for the Dodgers as he gave up 3 runs in the 9th.  However, not much of the game is placed on him as the Dodgers middle of the lineup that included Muncy, Bellinger, and Pederson, went hitless tonight.

Mookie Betts and Corey Seager were the only ones to muster any offense as they both drove in the teams only runs tonight. Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez and the rest of the Rockies bullpen had the Dodgers lineup guessing the entire night and were able to give their team the opportunity for the offense to blow the game wide open in the 9th.

SCORING PLAYS

  • TOP 2nd: Kevin Pillar RBI Sacrifice fly (0-1)
  • TOP 4th: Charlie Blackmon solo HR (0-2)
  • BOT 5th: Mookie Betts RBI single (1-2)
  • BOT 5th: Corey Seager RBI double (2-2)
  • TOP 9th: Nolan Arenado RBI single (2-3)
  • TOP 9th: Josh Fuentes 2 RBI double (2-5)

PLAY OF THE GAME

Play of the game goes to Mookie Betts. Despite the Dodgers losing this game, he managed to knock in the tying run that would help the Dodgers stay in the game until the 9th.

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Player of the game goes to Tony Gonsolin as he pitched exceptionally well. His stuff looked sharp despite the two runs he gave up, and was able to go 6 innings until handing it to the bullpen. With the trade of Ross Stripling, it looks like Dodgers fans will get to see more of Gonsolin as it seems like he’s earned a spot in the rotation finally.

UP NEXT

The Dodgers streak of not losing a series is in jeopardy as they will look to battle back against the Rockies tomorrow. Julio Urias will take the ball for the Dodgers as he shined in his last appearance against the Diamondbacks, going 6 innings while only giving up 1 run with 5 strikeouts. The Rockies will counter with Ryan Castellani. He was used in a relief appearance his last time out, going two innings giving up no runs with two strikeouts. Despite that strong outing in the bullpen, his previous official start, he only went two innings giving up 5 runs as the San Diego Padres got to him for an early exit. Game time is 7:10 PT.
