POST-GAME BRIEFING
In the midst of a power outage at Dodger Stadium and the Los Angeles Lakers reaching the NBA Finals, the Dodgers were looking to win their final series of the season against their cross-town rivals. The Dodgers managed to put together the offense when it counted and despite the Angels’ attempt to come back, the Dodgers hung on to win 7-6. With tonight’s victory the Dodgers won their 16th series of the season.
The Dodgers opened up the scoring early, scoring three runs in the first inning on a bases-loaded walk, a single and a fielder’s choice. Then, after the Angels came back to take a 4-3 lead, the Dodgers answered smacking home runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.Â
Tony Gonsolin (2-2 2.31 ERA ) took the mound for the Dodgers. He wasn’t as sharp as we’re accustomed to seeing, but good enough to get the win. He pitched six innings, gave up four runs on seven hits and struck out six. The Angels mounted a late comeback in the ninth, but the Dodgers’ bullpen was able to hang on to secure the victory.
