DLD Staff Predictions for 2019

This year, 2019, is going to be a big year for the Dodgers; it’s also going to be a big year for us here at Dodgers-Lowdown. We have added to our staff quite a bit and as we grow across the landscape of Dodgers media, we introduce new and exciting segments. Without further ado, here is our first ever DLD Preseason Predictions.

Mark Brockett

AL Wild Card game: Yankees beat Twins

NL Wild Card Game: Braves beat Nationals

ALDS: Astros beat Yankees and Indians beat Red Sox

NLDS: Brewers beat Braves and Dodgers beat Phillies

Alcs: Astros beat Indians

Nlcs: Dodgers beat Brewers

World Series: Dodgers beat Astros

You know what they always say “third time’s a charm”. While the rest of the NL West seems to be retooling their rosters for the future, the Dodgers have a roster that is eager to do something they haven’t been able to accomplish the past two seasons; get to the World Series and win it. This offseason the Dodgers have retooled their outfield and have a healthy Corey Seager returning to the team. They also have one of the deepest pitching staffs in all of baseball lead by one of the best young pitchers in the game Walker Buehler. Therefore, the Dodgers will be the first baseball team since 1923 to win the World Series after losing two in a row.

Yesenia Brockett

AL Wild Card: Athletics beat Yankees

NL Wild Card: Braves beat Reds

ALDS: Astros beat Athletics and Red Sox beat Twins

NLDS: Dodgers beat Braves and Brewers beat Phillies

ALCS: Astros beat Red Sox

NLCS: Dodgers beat Brewers

World Series: Dodgers beat Astros

Yeah, I’m not that savvy with stats and stuff. With that being said, I think it’s going to be a lot of the same teams, while throwing in the Phillies, the Reds, and the Twins in the mix, but it’s the Dodgers time to shine!

Ian Nielson

AL Wild Card: Red Sox beat Twins

NL Wild Card: Nationals beat Cubs

ALDS: Yankees beat Red Sox and Astros beat Indians

NLDS: Dodgers beat Nationals and Phillies beat Cardinals

ALCS: Yankees beat Astros

NLCS: Dodgers beat Phillies

World Series: Yankees beat Dodgers 🙁

I am the only person in these predictions who is going with a team other than the Dodgers to win the World Series. I would not be surprised if Los Angeles won the World Series and I hope they prove me wrong. Unfortunately, the Dodgers chose the absolute worst time to be the best team in the National League, running into the American League three-headed monster of the Astros, Red Sox and Yankees. The former two have already defeated the Dodgers in the fall classic and I see the latter doing the same this year. With an untouchable bullpen, dominant starting rotation and lineup that could once again set the home run record in a season, I do not see anybody getting past the Yankees this year. Not even the elite Dodgers or dominant Astros.

Carole Pur

AL Wild Card: Yankees beat Rays

NL Wild Card: Phillies beat Rockies

ALDS: Yankees beat Indians and Astro beat Red Sox

NLDS: Brewers beat Phillies and Dodgers beat Braves

ALCS: Astros beat Yankees

NLCS: Dodgers beat Brewers

World Series: Dodgers beat Astros

Another pick to win the World Series is the Dodgers. It will be a rematch of the 2017 World Series, with both teams remaining outstanding following a couple offseason. This is rare in today’s league. This time, the series goes seven games once again, but tips in the favor of the Dodgers, who capture their first World Series title since 1988.

Arrick Smith

NL Wild Card: Phillies beat Brewers

AL Wild Card: Red Sox beat Rays

NL Divisional Series: -Dodgers beat Phillies and Nationals beat Cardinals

AL Divisional Series: – Yankees beat Red Sox and Astros beat Indians

NL Championship Series: – Dodgers beat Nationals

AL Championship Series: – Yankees beat Astros

World Series: – Dodgers beat Yankees

My predictions are pretty black and white. The best team in the NL versus the best team in the AL

Oskar Vargas

AL WC winner: Red Sox beat Twins

NL WC winner: Cubs beat Nationals

ALDS 1: Astros beat Red Sox and  Yankees beat Indians

NLDS: Dodgers beat Cubs and Mets beat Cardinals

ALCS: Astros beat Yankees

NLCS: Dodgers beat Mets

World Series: Dodgers beat Astros

The NL East is gonna beat the crap out of each other. Probably will be the most enthralling division to watch in baseball. In the end, The Mets will come out on top because their rotation with deGrom and Syndergaard will be good enough along with their BP and the bats won’t be as quiet as last year. Following them into the PS will be WAS as a wild card. Their rotation is deeper than any others in the East and their offense, even without Harper, will put up enough runs that they might even take the division but still, something about the Nats and their ability to underachieve and choke loses them the NL East but not a WC spot. Braves lack of pitching and Phillies being overrated will have them watching the PS from their couches. STL has balance from pitching to hitting to defense. That’s gonna win them the division. Brewers had a good run last year but that was it. If it wasn’t for Yelich’s MVP season they could’ve been bumped from the PS. They didn’t upgrade their rotation and you can’t survive bullpening (I think this is a word) throughout the season. The Cubs rotation, bullpen with dynamic defense and offense could sneak past STL but they don’t have the same depth. Cubs will be streaky enough to make the WC against the Nats at home. NL West…Dodgers, Dodgers, Dodgers and they’ll make the move at or before the trade deadline which will put them into the WS for the 3rd straight year.

Eric Vrsalovich

NL Wild Card: Braves beat Cardinals

AL Wild Card: Rays beat Yankees

NLDS: Dodgers beat Braves and Brewers beat Nationals

ALDS: Red sox beat Rays and Astros beat Indians

NLCS: Dodgers beat Brewers and Astros beat Red Sox

World Series: Dodgers beat Astros

The owner and founder of Dodgers-Lowdown is feeling it this year. The Dodgers, who are coming off back to back World Series. This time, they avenge the 2017 World Series and win it all against the Houston Astros.
