The Dodgers have announced that they have acquired infielder Clayton Daniel from the Cubs in exchange for recently DFA’d right-handed pitcher Casey Sadler.

Daniel, 24, was selected by the Cubs in the 31st round of the 2018 Draft out of Jacksonville State. This past season he hit .305/.397/.402 with 11 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs, 21 RBIs, 44 runs scored, 2 stolen bases, and a 29/34 K/BB ratio in 281 plate appearances between Single-A South Bend and Double-A Tennessee.
The versatile 5-foot-7-inch infielder registered the majority of his playing time in 2019 at second base, where he played 323 innings between Single-A and Double-A, but he also played 161 innings at shortstop and 81 innings at third base.
Sadler, 29, was designated for assignment on Wednesday in order to make room for left-handed pitcher Alex Wood. Sadler went 4-0 with a 2.33 ERA, 4.40 FIP, 1.22 WHIP, and a 20/8 K/BB ratio in 27.0 innings with Dodgers after being acquired from the Rays in July.
