Last week the Colorado Rockies released left-handed reliever Jake McGee from their roster. Tuesday morning the Dodgers swept in and added the 33 year-old to what is already a deep bullpen on a 1-year deal. This is an exciting move given the circumstances that Scott Alexander may not be ready and Adam Kolarek has looked rough since Spring Training. McGee is the perfect fit for the new three batter minimum rule. Though on paper it looked like he had a rough 2019 with a 4.35 ERA, keep in mind all Colorado relievers seemed to struggle at Coors. On the road McGee was actually an excellent pitcher.
McGee would an awesome add for the #Dodgers.
Hear me out before you go attack.
2.91 ERA away from Coors last year and held left handed hitters to a 2.35 average. https://t.co/NU8EnMdo4j— Klein25 (@Klein25) July 17, 2020
As i pointed out a few days ago, McGee had a 2.91 ERA on the road and on the season held left-handed hitters to a .235 average. McGee was taken by the Rays all the way back in 2004, which was coincidentally when Andrew Friedman was apart of the organization. McGee has a career 25-22 record and 3.64 ERA.
