Only a few days after agreeing to the 3-year extension with AM 570 LA Sports baseball radio host, Charley Steiner, the Dodgers have reached an agreement for Tim Neverett to join the team’s broadcast crew on both radio and television play-by-play.
Neverett, 52 years old, has called Red Sox games on Boston’s WEEI baseball radio for the past three seasons, following seven seasons in Pittsburgh as the play-by-play caller for the Pirates. The move to bring on Neverett comes after Charley Steiner asked to have has coverage schedule shortened, an impact of the fatigue of calling game after game during a 162 game season.
The Dodgers’ lead play-by-play announcer on SportsNet LA, Joe Davis, will be filled in for by Tim Neverett on the Dodgers’ TV broadcasts that conflict with Davis’ national broadcasting gigs. Neverett will pair with either color commentators, Orel Hershiser and Nomar Garciaparra, when broadcasting for SportsNet LA.
Welcome to the crew, Tim, and best of luck to you this season!
