On Sunday morning, MLB Network Radio’s Twitter page posted a clip from their radio show which featured Jim Bowden discussing possible trade destinations for Pirates star outfielder, Starling Marte. Bowden briefly mentioned the Braves and the Blue Jays, but most prominently named the Dodgers as the team Pittsburgh could reach a deal with.

Bowden went on to analyze a potential trade from the Dodgers standpoint, saying, “if I’m the Dodgers, I would love to have Marte at the top of that lineup.” Bowden’s idea that drives the reasoning behind a deal is Marte’s right-handed bat assisting in evening a left-handed-heavy Dodgers lineup.
The trade hypothetical Bowden suggested during his run-through of ideas linking Marte and the Dodgers was for L.A. to trade, “[Alex] Verdugo and [Keibert] Ruiz for Marte and something…”
Starling Marte, 31, has a career .342 wOBA and 239 stolen bases in eight seasons.
