Dodgers Drop 5th Consecutive Series, Remain 3rd in NL West

The Dodgers continue to struggle after coming up short against the Angels on Sunday. Despite the Angels starting a struggling Jose Quintana, who had the worst ERA in MLB, Dodgers lost the game 2-1. The Dodgers have now lost 15 of their last 20 games, which continues to be the worst stretch in the National League. The ball club accomplished something that the franchise hasn’t done since 2017, and unfortunately I’m not referring to making the World Series but rather losing five consecutive series, which was previously done from August 25, 2017 to September 10, 2017.

Dodgers are coming off a brutal road trip where they went 2-8 in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Anaheim. It’s not just the fact that the Dodgers are losing, but how they are losing. Factor out two major blowouts where the Dodgers scored 30 runs over two games because the majority of the Dodgers recent games have been low scoring close losses. Trevor Bauer voiced his frustrations on Sunday,

“I don’t necessarily want to speak for the team. But I’m pissed. I don’t like losing. I want to win. That’s why I came here.”

Dodgers lead MLB with 10 one-run losses. This team has also failed to win consecutive games dating back since April 17, so we’re approaching nearly a month. If you’re optimistic then that means at least the Dodgers are keeping it close. Dave Roberts also voiced his lack of concerns and fully believes that this team will still win the NL West.  For now the team has lost consecutive series to the Padres, Reds, Brewers, Cubs, and Angels. They sit in third place in the NL West standings. Dodgers look to snap that series losing streak Tuesday at Dodger Stadium against the Mariners, who they split a 2-game series with earlier this season.
