If it was a regular season game, and the Dodgers were down 5-0, many fans may not have seen a pretty epic comeback. But it was Game 5 of the World Series, and fans witnessed the Dodgers come back down 5-0 to win the eighth championship in franchise history.

It all started when Tommy Edman hit what looked like a routine flyball to center field, right at American League MVP and Yankees centerfielder Aaron Judge, who misplayed the ball and dropped it. This allowed Kike Hernandez, who was at first base, to advance to second, and Edman to settle in at first, with no outs.

The Dodgers wound up tying the game in that very inning, and would win the game 7-6.

This ball went to auction and completed Thursday night with a winning bid of $43,510.

A total of 101 bids were recorded on the baseball, with the opening bid starting at $110 on Dec. 2 at 11:13 a.m.

On the final day of bidding, the ball went from $17,220 all the way to the winning amount, a jump of just over $26,000. A total of 26 bids were made this day.

There was a total of 17,056 views on the page.

Proceeds from the auction, which was run by the Dodgers, will go to the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation.

The dropped ball is the third-most expensive ball hit by the Dodgers this season. Shohei Ohtani’s 50-50 ball was auctioned for $4.4 million in October. That was followed by the walk-off grand slam ball Freddie Freeman hit in Game 1 of the World Series, which currently has a top bid of $600,000 through SCP Auctions.

If anybody wants to bid on the Freeman ball, a bid of at least $650,000 must be made prior to Saturday night, when the auction is set to conclude at 7:30 p.m. PT.

You may also purchase game-used dirt jars from Dodgers auctions, if you are interested.
