It was one season, and what a season it was, but Teoscar Hernandez became quite the fan favorite after betting on himself to sign a one-year, $23.5 million contract. Now a free agent, Dodger fans are tearing the internet apart looking for a clue that he will be back in Dodger Blue.

Dodgers President of Operations, Andrew Friedman is “hopeful” to bring Hernandez back to the World Champions per AM 570’s David Vassegh on X.

The team’s initial focus was on signing Juan Soto. When that didn’t work out and Soto signed a $765 million deal with the Mets, it appeared the Dodgers might have just been in on the negotiations to drive up the price on the coveted free agent.

Then the team signed Michael Conforto, who many fans hoped would just be outfield depth, until news broke that Mookie Betts would be moving to shortstop permanently starting next season, bringing to light that Conforto might nab a starting spot in one of the corner outfield positions.

So back to Hernandez, 32, who suddenly has arguably become the hottest commodity in baseball, alongside Jurickson Profar and Anthony Santander as potential free agent options for team’s looking to fill that need.

It has been said that Hernandez likes the idea of playing at Fenway Park for Red Sox manager Alex Cora.

He said he came to the Dodgers a season ago because he saw the ball well there. He hit .272/.339/.501 with 33 HRs, 99 RBIs and 12 SBs in 154 games, registering a 4.3 WAR.

Hernandez is estimated to sign a contract in the range of four-to-five years for $20-$25 million per season.
