Former Dodgers catcher and four-time MLB All-Star Paul Lo Duca revealed Wednesday that he suffered multiple fractures in a serious accident that left him unable to eat for weeks.

Paul Lo Duca’s Injury: What We Know So Far

The 52-year-old, who now works as a horse racing analyst, shared his recovery progress on X, assuring fans he’s “getting stronger.” Details of the accident remain undisclosed.

Lo Duca wwas drafted by the Dodgers in the 25th round of the 1993 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Arizona State University. He spent seven seasons with the Dodgers, where he was a fan favorite.

Dodgers Career: A Fan Favorite Behind the Plate

Hit best season came in 2001 when the then 29-year-old catcher hit .320/.374/.543 with 71 Rs, 25 HRs, 90 RBIs and a .917 OPS in 125 games.

At the 2004 trade deadline, the Dodgers moved Lo Duca along with outfielder Juan Encarnacion and relief pitcher Guillermo Mota to the Marlins in exchange for first baseman Hee-Seop Choi, pitcher Bill Murphy and starting pitcher Brad Penny.

In total, Lo Duca hit .287/.342/.428 with 57 HRs and 275 RBIs in 588 games for the Dodgers. He would go on to play four more seasons after leaving the Dodgers, spending time with the Marlins, Mets and Nationals.

“I’m getting stronger!” Lo Duca said while adding a flexed bicep emoji on X.

Lo Duca was a four-time All-Star in an 11-year MLB career, hitting .286/.337/.409 with 80 HRs and 481 RBIs. Primarily a catcher, Lo Duca also spent time playing first base, left and right field, and one game at third base.
