Post-Game Briefing
The Dodgers made the trip to Surprise, AZ to face the Texas Rangers in their second of two Cactus League match-ups on Sunday. Both teams entered the game on the following Saturday afternoon wins against the Colorado Rockies and the Milwaukee Brewers, respectively.
Julio Urias made his first start of the spring for the Dodgers on Sunday, working through three scoreless innings where Urias surrendered just one hit and one walk. However, Urias dangerously miscalculated a first-pitch fastball to the third batter he faced, Willie Calhoun. Urias struck Calhoun in the face with this 95 MPH pitch, which was later confirmed to have fractured his jaw. Calhoun is expected to undergo further evaluation on Monday.
Our best wishes here at Dodgers-LowDown go out to Willie Calhoun and his family. We hope to see Calhoun make a full and speedy recovery after this terrible accident.

Dodgers-LowDown Player of the Game
Cody Thomas reminded Dodgers fans again on Sunday why he has a case for time on the Major League roster this season, blasting his league-leading fifth home run. The offensive contributions of Cody Thomas this spring have been a very nice surprise for the Dodgers.
Up Next
The Dodgers move to 8-7 with this loss to the Rangers and will continue their road trip on Monday when they will travel to Peoria, AZ to face the San Diego Padres. Alex Wood will start for the Dodgers as the opposing Padres will give the starting nod to Garrett Richards, a pitcher the team had signed out of free agency during the winter of 2018 and rehabilitated to potentially earn a spot in the Padres’ starting rotation in 2020. First-pitch is set for 1:10 PM PT on Monday.
