February 10, 2020After much anticipation due to multiple teams backing out on their word, the Los Angeles Dodgers make it official by announcing that they have acquired Mookie Betts and David Price from the Red Sox.
The Dodgers acquired OF Mookie Betts, LHP David Price and cash considerations (which is expected to cover approximately half of Price’s 3 years, $96 million remaining) from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for OF Alex Verdugo, minor league IF Jeter Downs and minor league C Connor Wong.
At this moment in time, the Dodgers now have 42 men on the 40-man roster. Joc Pederson and Ross Stripling were supposed to head to Anaheim. The Angels owner backed out of the trade, and the Dodgers have made it clear that Joc Person will remain on the trade block.
The Dodgers didn’t acquire just two great players, they’ve acquired two perennial Hall of Fame talents who will make a huge impact on the roster as the Dodgers look to make that World Series push in 2020.
