Dodgers News: Shortstop Corey Seager Fractures Right Hand

Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager has a fractured right hand, x-rays revealed after Saturday’s 7-0 victory over the Marlins, the team announced.

Seager left the contest in the fifth inning after being hit on the right hand by Marlins pitcher Ross Detwiler.

He has played in 37 games this season, hitting .265 (39-for-147) with four home runs and 22 RBIs.

In an unrelated move, the Dodgers acquired infielder Yoshitomo Tsutsugo from the Rays just after tonight’s game. The 29-year-old plays first base, third and left field. He last played shortstop professionally in 2011 when he appeared there in two games for Yokohama in the Japan Eastern League.

Medlineplus says that a fracture requires a splint for about three weeks. Although, some require surgery. Pain and swelling could last anywhere from one-to-two weeks.

We will keep you posted as we hear more about Seager’s recovery time through the injury. Expect a stint on the injured list.
