Directly following an outing in Boston in which he walked Jackie Bradley Jr. on four pitches, the Dodgers have designated left-handed pitcher, Zac Rosscup, for assignment. To fill his spot on the team’s twenty-five man roster, the Dodgers have recalled right-hander, Casey Sadler, from AAA Oklahoma City.
The Dodgers recently acquired Sadler in a trade that the team completed with the Tampa Bay Rays on July 3rd. In exchange, the Dodgers sent right-handed pitcher, Nathan Witt, to the Rays.
Although it is a small sample size, Sadler has fared very well out of the ‘pen this season. In 19.1 innings for Tampa Bay, Sadler posted a 1.86 ERA with 11 strikeouts.
Should starting pitching become problematic against the Phillies in this upcoming four-game set, Casey Sadler will be in line to make his Dodger debut in Philadelphia before the team returns to Los Angeles on Friday to face the Miami Marlins.
