Chargois, 29, was claimed off of waivers from the Twins in February of 2018 and has spent the past 2 seasons in the Dodgers organization. This past season Chargois went 1-2 with a 2.76 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and a 37/16 K/BB ratio in 32.2 innings (27 games, 0 starts) with Triple-A Oklahoma City and 1-0 with a 6.33 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 28/5 K/BB ratio in 21.1 innings (21 games, 0 starts) in the majors.
Chargois was set to enter the 2020 season with an uphill battle to make the Opening Day roster and was likely going to be designated for assignment at some point in time due to the fact that he was out of options. By releasing him now he gets a chance to go overseas and likely make more money than he would have in the states.
With Chargois getting released, the Dodgers’ 40-man roster is now at 39.
