With the hot stove beginning to heat up, the Dodgers have checked in on Kris Bryant within the last 24-48 hours, according to Jon Morosi during a recent appearance on MLB Network. The Dodgers would likely wait for the Cubs decision on whether to tender Bryant for the 2021 season. The deadline is Wednesday. The 28 year-old Bryant is entering the final year of his contract and is drawing interest from other rival clubs.
The Dodgers remain committed on bringing back free agent Justin Turner as well, but the Toronto Blue Jays are one of the teams in on Turner, so it makes sense for the Dodgers to explore their options and plug in the guy at the right price. As a right-handed bat, Bryant fits the profile of a batter Andrew Friedman is looking for.
