Dodgers Reportedly Lose Brian Dozier To The Nationals

In a surprising move, the Nationals have reportedly signed second baseman Brian Dozier to a 1-year contract pending a physical, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Dozier’s contract is reportedly worth $9 million, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.

Dozier, 31, hit .182/.300/.350 with 9 doubles, 5 home runs, 20 RBIs, and 16 runs scored in 47 games after being acquired in July from the Twins for second baseman Logan Forsythe, minor league left-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer, and minor league first baseman/outfielder Luke Raley.

The Dodgers will not receive a compensation pick for Dozier as they were not able to offer him a qualifying offer since they acquired him midseason.
