The Dodgers have signed OF Steven Souza Jr. to a minors deal. The 31 year-old provides depth as well as an additional right-handed bat if the Dodgers were to call him up at any point this season. Souza Jr. has played for the Nationals, Rays, Dbacks, and Cubs. Last season Souza Jr. hit .148 over 31 plate appearances. In 2017, he hit a career high 30 home runs for the Rays. He was once known as a highlight machine for making spectacular catches in the outfield. Unfortunately in 2019, Souza Jr. tore numerous muscles in his knee during a Spring Training game, which forced him to miss the entire season and hasn’t been the same since. Souza Jr. was previously on a minors deal with the Astros, but on March 24, Souza was released by the Astros after going 2-for-21 with a home run and 5 walks in 27 plate appearances in Spring Training.
