Dodgers Win 14-2 as the L.A. Offense Outclasses San Diego

On Monday, the Dodgers squared off against the San Diego Padres in their first of two Cactus League match-ups this spring. Los Angeles entered the game after a one-run loss to the Texas Rangers on Sunday, while San Diego entered the game on a two-game losing streak.

Alex Wood was given the starting job for the Dodgers on Monday versus Garrett Richards and the Padres. In his start, Wood pitched through three and one-third innings, allowing one run on three hits. Richards also completed three and one-third innings of work, allowing no earned runs on four hits and a walk. However, Richards did surrender an unearned run during his outing.

Dodgers-LowDown Player of the Game

Anthony Garcia had a very strong outing at the plate for the Dodgers on Monday, going 2 for 2 with a walk, a double, two runs scored, and three runs batted in. Garcia’s seventh and eighth inning RBI base hits helped the Dodgers gain insurance and secure the win against one of their division rivals.

The Dodgers move to 9-7 with this win and will have their first off-day in a week on Tuesday. L.A.’s next game is on Wednesday in Glendale, AZ against the Milwaukee Brewers. Walker Buehler is set to make his third Cactus League start in the Dodgers’ next game. First-pitch for Wednesday is scheduled for 6:05 PM PT.
