Earlier today, the Dodgers announced infielder Edwin Rios would miss the remainder of the season due to surgery to repair a partially torn labrum in his right shoulder. This is after Rios was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 5th with right shoulder inflammation.
Edwin, 27, has had a part-time presence on the active roster since his debut in 2019, accumulating a total of 1.043 years of service time. In his 85 career games, Rios has slashed .207/.302/.489. His .282 isolated power percentage is a testament to his ability to barrel balls up. But he’s struggled mightily to start the 2021 season going 4 for 51 with a .354 OPS.
According to John Hopkins Medicine, the amount of time he’ll miss can be anywhere from nine to twelve months, but Rios is expected to be ready for Spring Training 2022.
