TL;DR - Scouting Report
Is Ha-Seong Kim a 2025 Free Agent Option for the Dodgers? Bleacher Report names LA as a top destination for Kim, who would bring versatility and speed to the roster.
Start the Rally: Tweet This Now!No offseason is predicted perfectly by anybody, and if anybody were to come out and say they were certain the Dodgers would sign Blake Snell and Michael Conforto, you’d probably call them a liar.
Bleacher Report looked into the free agency for Ha-Seong Kim, and named the Dodgers as their “top landing spot” in free agency for the former Padres infielder.
Kim, 29, just wrapped up a season that saw him struggle a bit. He slashed .233/.330/.370, hitting 11 HRs, 47 RBIs and stealing 22 of 27 bases in 121 games. This a season removed from seeing him hit .260/.351/.398 with 17 HRs, 60 RBIs and stealing 38 of 47 bases.
Last season he made just $8 million. Bleacher Report predicts he would seek a one-year, $14 million contract with whichever team landed his services.
The Dodgers are expected to open the 2025 season with Mookie Betts at shortstop. At the moment the team expects Gavin Lux to be their second baseman. Though, Lux’s name may have surfaced in trade talks with the Brewers for Devin Williams. Could he be on the move?
If so, and if the Dodgers intend to keep Tommy Edman in center field, it could open the door for a free agent signing of a player like Kim.
Kim has spent time at second base, third base and shortstop in his four-year big-league career.
Earlier this offseason it was thought that the Dodgers could pursue shortstop Willy Adames, who ultimately signed a seven-year, $182 million deal.
