Rawlings has just announced that Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger was awarded his first career Gold Glove award for his spectacular defense in right field in 2019.
Bellinger had an impressive 19 defensive runs saved in right field which was tied with Aaron Judge for the Major League lead among right fielders (Bellinger had 22 DRS total).
He also had 10 outfield assists, good for third place in the National League despite significant playing time at first base, made 91 out of zone plays (OOZ) and had a 10.3 UZR.
Bellinger beat out Bryce Harper and Jason Heyward for the award.
“I’m not going to lie, it’s pretty cool to me. I’ve always wanted the gold on my glove. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was really happy about it,’ Bellinger said after winning the award.
