The Dodgers announced the signing of two-time Cy Young Award winner, left-handed starting pitcher Blake Snell Saturday, inking the ace pitcher to a five-year, $182 million contract, bolstering their starting rotation and firmly positioning themselves as one of, if not the top favorites to repeat in winning the World Series.

Snell, who is set to turn 32 on Wednesday, will receive a $52 million signing bonus and also $62 million in deferred payments.

In 2023 with the Giants, Snell went 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA in 20 starts, posting a career-best 12.5 K/9, 3.30 K:BB, and tying career-bests of 5.6 H/9 and 0.5 HR/9.

After struggling in the first-half of the season with an 0-3 mark in eight starts, a 6.31 ERA and 1.430 WHIP, Snell kicked it into high gear, going 5-0 with a 1.45 ERA in 12 starts, a Cy Young-like 1.45 ERA and 0.849 WHIP.

He is two seasons removed from winning his second career Cy Young while with the Padres, and is just the seventh pitcher in MLB history to win the Cy Young award in both leagues, after winning it in 2018 with the Rays.

These awards are in line with Snell’s reputation as one of baseball’s best pitchers. He is expected to join a Dodgers rotation that brings as many questions into the 2025 season as it does answers, anchored by Snell, and filled in by Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow, Tony Gonsolin and Bobby Miller. The team has reportedly been linked to Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki as a possible addition as well.

Snell posted a 2-2 record and a 2.62 ERA in 14 career outings against the Dodgers. In seven outings at Dodger Stadium, he was 1-0 with a 2.03 ERA. This exceptional statline will not haunt the Dodgers over the next five seasons.

Following the signing of Snell, the Dodgers are +370 favorites to win the 2025 World Series according to FanDuel Sportsbook, ahead of the Yankees (+650), Braves (+850) and Phillies (+1000).

The Dodgers are looking to be the first team to repeat as World Champions since the Yankees repeated in 1999 and 2000.
