Start the Rally: Tweet This Now!Good news, Dodger fans – outfielder Teoscar Hernandez returning to the Dodgers may be more of a possibility than you think, if a league source is to be trusted.
That league source tells Matt Gelb of The Athletic that the Phillies checked in with Hernandez’s camp. But it’s widely believed throughout baseball that is expected to return to the Dodgers at some point. The Phillies may be more focused on Anthony Santander, instead.
Hernandez is also being sought after by the Red Sox, Yankees and Blue Jays.
In recent days it has become known that the Astros are open to trading outfielder Kyle Tucker. While no reports of interest with the Dodgers have surfaced, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the team entertained the thought at some point, especially if a deal with Hernandez can’t be reached. The Yankees, Cubs and Giants are linked to Tucker, according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman.
Earlier in the offseason, Hernandez told Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic that returning to Los Angeles is a “priority”. He finished a one-year, $23.5 million deal with the Dodgers in 2024 after hitting .272/.339/.501 with a career-best 33 home runs and 99 RBIs, with 12 stolen bases. This included Hernandez’s triumph in the Home Run Derby.
The Dodgers previously entertained signing Juan Soto this offseason, but were rebuffed by Soto in favor of the Mets’ $765 million contract. Right after that, the Dodgers signed Michael Conforto to a one-year, $17 million deal.
