Welcome to DLD’s weekly Power Rankings. Power Rankings are not necessarily reflective of overall record, but who is playing the hottest and dominating most. Without further ado, let’s get after it. We’re through the first month of the season and everything is beginning to take shape.
30. Miami Marlins: No Movement
Get used to seeing Miami here…
29. Baltimore Orioles: No Movement
the Orioles too…
28. Detroit Tigers: No Movement
and who could forget about los Tigres?
27. San Francisco Giants: Down 1 Spot
A road trip against the red-hot Reds (lol) and Rockies could bump them further down in the rankings.
26. Kansas City Royals: Down 3 Spots
It was only a matter of time until a team with such little talent wound up in the bottom five.
25. Pittsburg Pirates: Down 9 Spots
Man, did the Pirates go into witness protection or what? 0-7 with a -30 run differential last week? Yikes, tough scene.
24. Seattle Mariners: Down 16 Spots
Well, the M’s have absolutely s*#@ the bed, haven’t they? After getting off to a red hot 13-2 start, they have been brought back down to earth.
23. Boston Red Sox: Up 2 Spots
Well, they’re trending in the right direction at least 🙂
22. Chicago White Sox: Up 5 Spots
I bet ninety percent of you were incapable of visualizing Tim Anderson; he was arguably the American League’s April MVP (yes, I just made that award up).
21. Cleveland Indians: Down 1 Spot
Wow, the Indians offense is so awesome bro. Not.
20. Oakland Athletics: Up 1 Spot
Offense? Meh. Pitching? Meh. But hey, they had a positive run differential last week.
19. Toronto Blue Jays: No Movement
With Vladdy Jr. finally up, there won’t be “No Movement” for much longer. Is it too late to switch my sleeper?
18. San Diego Padres: Up 4 Spots
With a 4-1 record last week, the friars continue to hang around the top of the NL West. Doubt that continues for much longer, but for now, they got something going on.
17. Anaheim Angels: Up 7 Spots
What can I say? My power rankings are a bit peculiar, I didn’t want to put the Angels, with all their struggles this high up the list, but over the last week both their pWAR and OPS as a team placed in the top 10 of all MLB teams.
16. New York Mets: Down 2 Spots
The Mets are still getting punished from their sins a week before.
15. Milwaukee Brewers: Down 4 Spots
The Brew Crew continues to slip further down the list with each passing week. However, Zach Davies leads the league in ERA somehow.
14. Atlanta Braves: Down 5 Spots
As much as I love, and I mean LOVE Atlanta’s young, talented lineup, their pitching just ain’t cutting it.
13. Texas Rangers: No Movement
Just gonna leave you with this video of Joey Gallo absolutely brutalizing this innocent, little ball.

12. Washington Nationals: Down 2 Spots
Washington just can’t get their offense, pitching and defense on the same page. One week it’s offensive onslaughts, the next its dominant pitching. Unfortunately for them , this has been a recipe for sub .500 record.
11. Colorado Rockies: Up 6 Spots
Same as Washington, they can’t pitch and hit at the same time. Again, a recipe for fourth place.
10. Cincinnati Reds: Up 8 Spots
Do I think they’re a top 10 team? No. Have they been a top 10 caliber team over the past two weeks? Yes.
9. Philadelphia Phillies: Up 3 Spots
Just like they will at the end of September, the Phillies closed out April with a narrow division lead.
8. Arizona Diamondbacks: Up 7 Spots
Remember when the D-Backs dropped the opening series to the Dodgers and we all thought this team was a joke? Turns out the Dodgers are just that good.
7. Tampa Bay Rays: Down 4 Spots
You have to earn your top 10 spot, and while the Rays are down a few spots, they grinded all month long to be one of MLB’s most pleasant surprises.
6. Los Angeles Dodgers: Down 1 Spots
While the Dodgers were the first team to 20 wins, the offense has slowed down a bit and the pitching has been unpredictable at times. With that being said, this month will not be an easy one, and May will be the first actual test of the season, with many games against the NL Central and NL East. We’re about to find out just what this team is made of.
5. Houston Astros: Down 4 Spots
The pitching has been pretty solid, the offense… not so much. They stay in the top five however.
4. Minnesota Twins: Down 2 Spots
A four game series win over the Astros? Impressive.
3. New York Yankees: Up 3 Spots
Against all odds, the Yankees triple A team continues to pulverize the competition, going 6-1 last week.
2. Chicago Cubs: Up 5 Spots
The Cubs came out of the gate miserably slow, but since their rocky start, they have been firing on all cylinders. Hell, Jason Heyward is even getting into the action.
1. St. Louis Cardinals: Up 3 Spots
The best team in the National League, playing in the toughest division in all of baseball. They’ve earned it.
