Here’s a brief look at everything Dodgers to get you caught up before today’s game against the A’s.
- In the first inning of last night’s game against the Giants, Johnny Cueto pegged Justin Turner on his left hand. Justin remained in the game until the 4th inning when Christian Santana replaced him at third. Before then, Turner hit a 2 run home run off of Cueto which presumably put a lot of minds at ease. But for reassurance, Turner got an x-ray on the affected hand and it turned out to be negative. He spoke on how his hand felt and how it brought feelings of deja vu from spring training 2018 where he was hit by a pitch on the first night game of the year in a game against the Giants:

- Kershaw had another solid outing but things got slightly heated when Giants third base coach John Wotus uttered something to Kersh while jogging off the field. Kershaw admitted Wotus said something in regards to Giants catcher Rob Brantly being hit by pitch. It seems the Giants felt that it was retaliation for Turner getting hit in the hand the prior inning. The Dodgers ace talks about his outing and the heated exchange:

Bellinger is back in the lineup after dealing with a knot in his back. Gavin Lux, Cody and arguably Austin Barnes are the only active roster regulars in the lineup. Cody Thomas leads all Dodgers with 4 home runs this spring which matches the team-high from last year’s Cactus League season by Cody Bellinger. Raley, McKinstry, and Rios are all competing for the final spot on the active roster while Gore is trying for the last spot on the 40 man roster. Like Thomas, Devin Mann is a minor leaguer given the chance to prove himself against big leaguers.
- The Dodgers made their first cuts today, sending pitchers Josiah Gray and Edwin Uceta down to minor league camp. Gray had 2 appearances allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, no walks while recording 0 strikeouts in 1.1 innings pitched. Uceta pitched in 3 games allowing 5 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks with 1 strikeout in 3.0 innings pitched.
- Dustin May has resumed playing catch. He’s been dealing with side discomfort since the beginning of camp.
- Jimmy Nelson will throw a bullpen session tomorrow. He’s been dealing with lower back and groin issues.
- Chris Taylor might play tomorrow. He’s been out this week with a sore right shoulder.
- Joc Pederson has been taking swings in the batting cage. He might see his first game on the minor league side soon. It’ll be his first action of 2020 since dealing with side issues throughout camp.
- Dave Roberts confirms Justin Turner’s hand is fine and will play tomorrow.
