September 28, 2019Here’s a brief recap of the days Dodger news prior to the game.
- Clayton Kershaw finished the season with a 3.05 ERA. That’s tied for the 10th lowest ERA in baseball among pitchers with at least 160 innings pitched. He also led the Dodgers with 22 quality starts this season. Only 7 other pitchers in the majors had as many or more this season.
- Per MLB- The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH), the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) today announced a multi-year partnership focused on bringing issues surrounding mental health out of the shadows and into the public through a multi-faceted awareness campaign.
- Justin Turner’s back has improved. He might be in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Giants.
- Joe Kelly’s bullpen session was encouraging enough to where he’ll be expected to pitch on Sunday, the last game of the season.
- Dave Roberts will not make a rotation decision for the NLDS until he discusses it with the starters after Saturday’s game. Roberts does intend to have nine relievers to go along with Ryu, Kershaw, and Buehler.
- Doc has mentioned there’s a good chance both Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin make the NLDS roster.
- Rich Hill is expected to go 3 innings on Sunday. He threw a bullpen session today that went really well.
- Walker Buehler isn’t in any pitch limit tonight but Roberts plans to use Gonsolin for an inning or two.
- Seager is likely not playing the whole game tonight. Roberts will decide how long he feels Corey stays in by what he sees during the game.
- Champ Pederson, Joc Pederson’s brother, will be bat boy for tonight’s game in San Francisco.
