Teoscar Hernandez is back, according to Mega 97.9 New York’s Moises Fabian, who was first on reporting Hernandez’s deal a season ago, earlier this year on Jan. 7.
Hernandez doubled down on the tweet by posting a story on his Instagram, saying “I’m back”.
Jack Harris, the Dodgers beat writer for the Los Angeles Times confirms the report. As does ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The tweet, made in Spanish, translates to:
“Source: Teoscar Hernandez and the Dodgers are finalizing a 3-year deal for a guaranteed $66 million. The man stays with the champions!”
If true, the Dodgers got their man back, bringing back an important piece to the Dodgers’ lineup, who hit .272/.339/.501 with 33 HRs, 99 RBIs and 12 steals in 15 tries. He posted a 4.3 WAR, was the MLB Home Run Derby champion, an All Star, and 19th in the NL MVP award voting.
Passan’s tweet says the deal includes a fourth-year option for $15 million, a little more than $23 million in deferred money and a $23 million signing bonus.
