On January 2, 2020 there finally has been an update on what the Dodgers have been up to this offseason. Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Dodgers are shifting their focus on acquiring Mookie Betts. The Indians continue to not budge on a Lindor deal, unless the Dodgers include Gavin Lux in the trade. At this point it is best for the Dodgers to move on from the Indians because the upside of Lux is just too high. Dodgers have shifted their focus and are speaking to the Red Sox front office more as it’s become easier for the Dodgers to work with Boston because they aren’t requiring Lux in a trade package and it is believed that multiple players would be sent to Los Angeles, not just Lux. David Price is one of the names as mentioned before, but Boston likely would ask that one of Dustin May or Tony Gonsolin be in the trade. Not sure that’s worth it considering Price is owed $96 million over the next three seasons.
The #Dodgers can afford David Price — and just about anyone else on a long-term deal. They rank 24th among #MLB teams in payroll commitments for 2022 at $28.125 million, according to Spotrac. That is less than the Mariners, Rays, Tigers and Indians. @MLBNetwork
