While the Yankees continue to be the odds on favorite to sign or in their case re-sign infielder DJ LeMahieu, there are other clubs that are also interested in landing the 3-time All-Star.

One of those other clubs is the reigning World Series Champion Dodgers.
Earlier this week David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports said during an appearance on MLB Network that the Dodgers are “definitely in talks with LeMahieu”. Jon Morosi of MLB Network followed up with a tweet today stating that the Dodgers have “continued to show interest in free-agent DJ LeMahieu”.
This news comes as a bit of a surprise given that most experts around the league viewed LeMahieu re-signing with the Yankees to be a virtual lock. However, there have been various reports stating that there is a stalemate between the two sides and that they are separated by one year and over $25 million in contract talks. LeMahieu is thought to be seeking a contract in the neighborhood of five years and $125 million.
If the Dodgers were to add LeMahieu to the mix, he would certainly make an already deep lineup that much deeper. It would also lead to some questions like will they re-sign Justin Turner or will they trade Gavin Lux or will they shift Corey Seager to third base and Lux to shortstop to make room for LeMahieu. LeMahieu would be a good fit in Los Angeles considering he is capable of playing first, second, and third base and the Dodgers favor multi-positional players.
It has so far been a pretty quiet offseason for the reigning champions, but as many Dodger fans who are familiar with how Andrew Friedman works that can all change rather quickly.
