2020 is the first year of the new partnership between Nike and Major League Baseball as its new official uniform provider.Â
Many teams throughout the league have taken this new deal as a way to rebrand their team such as the Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers just to name a few. Should the Dodgers take advantage and add another jersey to the lineup?
Here at Dodgers Low-Down, we asked that same question on social media, the responses were mixed. On Twitter, 60 percent of voters sided with no. Many feel that the Dodgers image and brand is fine the way it is. Some argued that it would be fun to mix it up with some throwbacks.Â
All these rebrand have us thinking… would you like to see the Dodgers incorporate an alternate uniform into their repertoire?

In the long history of sports, the Dodgers are one of the most recognizable franchises in the world. The Dodgers home whites with the blue logo across the chest and red number on the bottom left just pop. There is simply nothing to change, as some fans have put it when you get it right the first time why change it.
Nope. When you make the greatest uniform on your first attempt, no need to rebrand

However, while the Dodgers, unlike other teams, don’t need to rebrand they can still have a little fun by adding a throwback or alternate. Below are two options the Dodgers could add!

The recent trend for a few MLB teams is bringing back the powder blue jerseys. Currently, the teams that have powder blue uniforms in their wardrobe are the Phillies, Twins, Rangers, and Cardinals, Royals, and Rays, the Dodgers last wore these throwback Brooklyn Dodgers uniforms in the 2011 season. The Dodgers could easily make these a monthly work weekly jersey. For example, the Phillies when they play at home on Thursday they have “throwback Thursday” and wear their powder blues. The Dodgers could do something similar to provide even more themes during the season.

The most obvious candidate to become a regular jersey is the blue spring training top. Nothing in the overall design of this jersey is changed except the flip of the colors. Currently, the Dodgers only wear these jerseys for warm-ups and spring training, however, the Dodgers could wear these every once and a while to change things up a bit.
Overall, the Dodgers have one of the best jerseys in all of sports and are in no rush to change, although, the team could benefit by adding an alternate jersey for special occasions.
