The Baseball World Mourns The Loss Of Tyler Skaggs

Today the baseball world has suffered a tremendous loss that is not only being felt by one team’s fan base but every fan base across the country.

Earlier today the Los Angeles Angels announced that left-handed pitcher Tyler Skaggs passed away.  Skaggs, 27, was found unconscious in a hotel room in Southlake, Texas. According to the Southlake Police Department, officers found Skaggs unresponsive at 2:18 pm CT (12:18 pm PT) and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly following this shocking announcement, the Angels released the following statement:

In addition to this statement, the Angels announced that their game scheduled for tonight against the Texas Rangers has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a future date.

The news of Skaggs’ passing has rocked the world of baseball to its core and has at least for this moment brought fans from every team together.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said he was “deeply saddened” by Skaggs’ death. Manfred quote, “We will support the Angels’ organization through this most difficult period, and we will make a variety of resources available to Tyler’s teammates and other members of the baseball family.”

MLBPA executive director Tony Clark released a statement as well. Clark quote, “The fraternity of players is stunned and saddened today by the untimely death of Tyler Skaggs, and we extend our deepest sympathies to Tyler’s wife, Carli, and the rest of his family, teammates and friends.”
