Not On Board With ESPN’s Recent Trade Proposal
December 4, 2019Door Opens Further for the Dodgers: Nationals Owner says “We can only afford one of Rendon or Strasburg”
December 5, 2019It’s no secret the Dodgers are interested in signing one of Stephen Strasburg, Anthony Rendon, and Gerrit Cole. Yesterday, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times and Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported the Dodgers, along with the Angels and Yankees, have met with Cole in L.A. The details of the meeting are unknown but it validates their interest after now meeting with all three of the marquee free agents.
Cole is coming off his best season, putting up a career-high 6.9 rWAR and an MLB leading 185 ERA+. It’s believed he’ll be looking at deals north of 5 years and $200 million which are both out of the realm of what the Dodgers have offered or given out since Andrew Friedman has taken over as president of baseball operations. Whether or not they go out of their comfort zone to sign him remains to be seen. Winter meetings are only a few days away. With the amount of movement that’s been going on already, maybe one of the big dominoes will fall in the Dodgers direction.
