Trade: Dodgers Acquire 1B Tyler White From Astros For RHP Andre Scrubb

UPDATE: The Dodgers have officially announced the trade.

According to Jake Kaplan of The Athletic, the Dodgers have acquired first baseman Tyler White from the Astros in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Andre Scrubb. This deal has also been confirmed by multiple other sources including Mark Feinsand of MLB.com and Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times. Neither the Dodgers or Astros have officially announced the trade at this time.

White, 28, was designated for assignment by the Astros on July 20th after hitting .225/.320/.330/.650 with 14 doubles, 3 home runs, 21 RBIs, 16 runs scored, and a 74/32 K/BB ratio in 253 plate appearances. Him being designated for assignment came as a surprise to some considering that he hit .276/.354/.533/.888 with 12 doubles, 3 triples, 12 home runs, 42 RBIs, 27 runs scored, and a 49/24 K/BB ratio in 237 plate appearances just last year. White will likely report to Triple-A Oklahoma City and serve as depth.

Scrubb, 24, was drafted by the Dodgers in the 8th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of High Point University in North Carolina. In his four seasons in the organization, Scrubb went 21-6 with a 2.37 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and a 201/95 K/BB ratio in 175.0 innings. This season Scrubb has pitched exclusively at Double-A Tulsa and went 6-1 with a 2.45 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 56/23 K/BB ratio in 47.2 innings.
