Walker Walks: Buehler Gives Reason for Leaving Dodgers

TL;DR - Scouting Report

Walker Buehler left the Dodgers after seven seasons and two World Series titles. Now with the Red Sox, he expressed no ill will in leaving LA, but said it was time for a "new step".

Walker Buehler’s chapter with the Dodgers has officially closed — but the way it ended might sting more than fans expect.

Drafted in 2015, Buehler grew up in the Dodger organization. He wasn’t just a first-round pick — he became a postseason bulldog, the guy with ice in his veins, and a two-time World Series champion who literally shut the door on the Yankees in Game 6 last fall to win the 8th championship in franchise history.

“New Step” Needed for Walker Buehler’s Career

So why leave now? Especially with the Dodgers looking like the most complete team in baseball entering 2025?

According to Buehler, it wasn’t about any bad blood.

He told The Boston Globe: “There wasn’t anything about LA that I disliked. But given the way I struggled last season, then have a cherry on the top, it seemed like as good a time as any to take the next step.”

That next step: Boston. A revamped Red Sox rotation. A team trying to climb back into contender status. And maybe, just maybe, a collision course with the Dodgers in October.

How the Dodgers Replaced Buehler in the Pitching Rotation?

Make no mistake: the Dodgers wanted him back. But Buehler wanted something else — something new. Now the Dodgers will move forward with a rotation featuring Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki and others… and Buehler will try to prove his Game 6 heroics weren’t a final act, but a preview.

If this does end with Buehler vs. Dodgers in a future Fall Classic, you might want to get your popcorn ready.
