It’s Winter Meetings week, which means things are about to get juicy, Dodger fans. Your first tidbit of the week: the Dodgers have reportedly signed a free agent outfielder, and it’s not Teoscar Hernandez or Juan Soto.

MLB.com Senior National Reporter Mark Feinsand shares on X that his sources are confirming that the Dodgers are set to sign free agent outfielder Michael Conforto. ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez’s source shares that the deal is expected to be a one-year deal for $17 million.

Conforto will turn 32 in March, and could be the second former Giants player from last season to join the Dodgers this offseason, following starting pitcher Blake Snell. He hit .237/.309/.450 with 20 HRs and 66 RBIs in 130 games. He played left field last season, but has played in center field and right field in the past.

His two seasons in San Francisco came after seven with the Mets, who selected him with their 10th overall draft pick in 2014 out of Oregon State.

Conforto missed five weeks in 2021 with a right hamstring injury, and then proceeded to miss the entire 2022 season due to a right should injury he sustained while working out during free agency. The following season he would sign a 2-year/$36 million contract with the Giants.

News of Conforto’s alleged signing come among the anticipated announcement of where fellow free agents Soto and Hernandez will sign. This signing should not affect the signing of either player and rather should add to the club’s depth in the outfield.
